In the early stages of quarantine, I took some time to look through all of my work, categorizing, filing, and keywording everything I’d shot over the past decade or so. I found that the landscapes and, in particular, the images of trees gave me a much needed-sense of calm.
I made a zine out of these images in the hope that it could help others feel some of that peace. Since traveling is not an option for many people at the current moment, I thought this could be a reminder that the world is still out there and green spaces still exist.
In the weeks since I made the zine, a global uprising has begun in response to the murder of George Floyd and our long history of systemic racism, oppression, and exploitation of black people. In response to this I will be donating 100% of the proceeds from this zine, along with a personal donation, to Equal Justice Initiative, an organization I feel very strongly about.
@eji_org is a Montgomery, Alabama-based non-profit that works to end mass incarceration, excessive punishment, and racial inequality. They provide legal representation to prisoners who have been wrongly convicted of crimes, prisoners without effective representation, or others who may have been denied a fair trial.
So here it is. I will be selling 50 copies on my website for $25 each. I know that might be more than you’re used to paying for a zine, but please know the funds will be going to a worthy cause.
Thank you.
